The Japanese experience at Onsoon is of high quality, striving for the authentic. That's how it is when you take the concept all the way and add to it an approach towards hospitality that is already known far and wide. This location's reputation is well-earned, in our opinion, and we recommend with all our hearts that you take off your shoes, enter the cabins and try a taste of something else. We might also mention the private, heated, wading pools that are heated 24 hours a day, with the beautiful minimalistic design and modern facilities. And what does Onsoon mean? Details in our review.
Onsen (Japanese huts) in Ramot: luxurious and romantic B&Bs, which invite you to take off your shoes...
The only place in the country where you can truly be "Big in Japan" is the onsen in Ramot.
But, first I have a small debt to you and that is to explain what an onsen is. So like this: Onsen is the spa of the Japanese, which means: the Japanese bathhouse, which is actually a small heated wading pool.
In Japan, this version of the bathhouse means bathing together with many other Japanese, completely naked, if you insist on knowing.
In Ramot, the couple Dodi and Yasmin Koipman decided to refine it to a version of the Israeli B&Bs, which prefer (mostly) complete privacy.
Dodi, Yasmin's husband, who is responsible for all design issues in the B&Bs, is in charge of the construction. His extensive experience as a contractor and his many insights from the extensive business contact working with Japan, helped him and Jasmine establish, with their own hands, what has already become a well-known institution in Israel: the romantic "onsen" B&Bs in Ramot.
With their own hands, literally with twenty fingers, the couple raised a mansion to glory. The minimalist and strict Japanese design is evident in everything: ornamental pools, Japanese design vegetation, cabins with rice paper partitions - everything is there - and completely real.
Onsen - outside
Onsen is located near the entrance to Ramat. After you pass the gate, you will surely notice a Japanese wooden gate. Already from the outside you can feel the magic of this place. There is something very "un-Israeli" about the complex: the special landscaping, the lighting, the buildings.
If you pass under the gate and enter the complex of the designed mansion, you are guaranteed to reach another world: the world of the red circle, the land of the rising sun. More precisely, you have arrived in Japan.
The owners of the house took the concept seriously and went with the Japanese elements to the end: in addition to the meticulous Japanese design, there is also strict adherence to the rules of Japanese ceremony: the meal is announced here with the ringing of the gong, entering the cabins requires taking off your shoes and other Japanese customs that we will leave you to discover on your own.
In Ramot Onsen there are four Japanese cabins and each of them has its own private onsen: a private and pampering spa with a large round double Jacuzzi enhanced with hot water streams. The jacuzzi is built inside basalt stones and surrounded by vegetation.
Actually, our use of the word hot tub is not accurate here. This is not another jacuzzi, this is actually a "small private pool" for each cabin, a pool that is heated twenty-four hours a day! It is also worth noting that the baths are cool, closed and heated. The passage to the baths is directly from the four romantic cabins so there is no need to go outside and complete privacy is maintained.
Also in terms of the size of the onsen complex, it is unusual, and for the better. In fact, it is a small estate decorated with minimalist gardens, according to the best Japanese gardening tradition: we walk along a winding path that passes between the romantic and private wooden cabins, many water pools complete the picture and respond to the water motif here.
Onsen - interior
When you arrive at the cabin, after taking off your shoes - to remind you, you have to remove the rice paper partition and step from delicacies on the tatami floor, into a designed Japanese world. You are immediately impressed by a huge wooden bed with a special mattress, wrapped in caressing sheets, and also by the walls around the bed, which are painted green, which symbolizes renewal. As in the complex itself, from the moment you enter the cabins the visual experience is very tangible.
The cabin is built in one space, very high-quality, strict and minimalist, which is divided into niches according to the Japanese approach. All the accessories in the cabin were imported from Japan: from the tea cups to the pictures on the wall, the furniture was made by hand, in a special adaptation to the Japanese style. In the cabin you will find a plasma screen, a cinema system and a mini bar, the most advanced cinema and sound system of the JBL type, an experience for movie lovers.
In the romantic "Onsen" B&Bs, you will find a bottle of fine wine, lighted scented candles and a special atmosphere, plus an elaborate breakfast served on pure Japanese dishes directly to the cabin, a meal that is an experience in itself.
For the information of the guests of the Zimmer: In the vicinity of the Zimmer you will find many attractions including: Hamat Gedar, Lake Kinneret, hiking trails, jeep/horse/4WD trips and more. You should consult with my uncle Jasmine.
Onsen - in summary:
A very high quality experience, which educates to be "real". This is how it is when you take the concept to the end, and add to it a hospitality approach whose name is already known far and wide. The reputation this place has gained is justified in our opinion and we wholeheartedly recommend that you take off your shoes, enter the cabins and taste something "different".
