Yu & Mi B&B in the Matat settlement

Uniqueness, originality, inspiration. This is how I would describe Zimmer Yo & Mi in Matat in the Upper Galilee, which promises its guests a fascinating journey into a world of creativity and art, a world where reality mixes with dreams, memories and stories.

The name of the B&B has two different meanings: You and Me   Alluding to an intimate experience of "togetherness" that you will have in this isolated and spacious suite, located deep in the natural forest.   Yo & Mi in Hebrew reveals the beginning of the names of the hosts and creators of the Zimmer - Yuval and Mira. It is hard to ignore the symbolism of the name - this B&B is dedicated to the love of these special people, who expressed in this creation all the knowledge, talent and emotion they "gathered" and developed along the paths of life.  

And before we go inside the building where the suite is located (which reminds of a castle from the legends), I will tell you about Mattat - a green picturesque village drowning in a thick grove and hiding far away among the mountains of the Upper Galilee.   This charming piece of land is a small island of peace, freedom and breathing space, which, in addition to a beautiful view, a magical and unique atmosphere, a moderate and very un-Israeli climate, is blessed with a fascinating and surprising human landscape.

A stone path winding through tangled vegetation leads me to a tall and beautiful pavilion, made in Italian Mediterranean style. The structure is yellow with blue frames, covered with sand and built in a rounded shape.   Arches, stained glass and authentic carved items complete the unique look. The front porch (one of four) is paved with stones and contains a graceful coffee table, a relaxation area with a hammock among the trees and plenty of romantic hiding places.

Inside - a happy, colorful, bohemian atmosphere. A celebration of bright colors, impossible yet full of taste combinations, surprising design details infuse here an almost theatrical, intriguing, different atmosphere. The central space, blessed with niches and windows to the forest and used as a living room and kitchenette, is rich in exotic fabrics originating in France, metal decorations, the handiwork of the owner of the place Yuval Talem, a well-known metal craftsman, displays on the walls, unique lighting fixtures and many other beautiful objects. These are rare objects, some of them are very old, each one - its own story, all together - one love story.

The artistic richness and unusual atmosphere are also expressed here in the details of the furniture and design: the living room sofa with upholstery from Paris, a sand-colored grandmother's armchair, a retro-style kitchenette, paintings, sculptures and more. In the place you will find an oil fireplace, a TV screen, a cabinet with books, board and thinking games and more.

Two more graceful balconies surround the space - a tiny "morning coffee" balcony, and a large "Dak" balcony open to the spectacular courtyard, rich in pleasant corners in nature. Here guests will find a waterfall and a fish pond, chaise longues, hiking trails into the forest and stone terraces with plenty of juicy fruit trees.

Stone stairs lead to the upper level - the bedroom. This quiet and romantic space creates an intimate and sensual atmosphere. On   A solid oak parquet floor is placed by a spectacular bed, and above the huge round jacuzzi surrounded by windows overlooking the forest is a magnificent mosaic dome.   And two-layer shading curtains, mirrors in sculptural frames, stained glass windows, works of art, original furniture designed by the couple - all these make the space a peaceful and beautiful lover's refuge.

The bathroom provides guests with varied pampering experiences. In addition to a rain shower, plenty of toiletries and bathrobes will be found here   Guests have hair dryers, toothbrushes, and a variety of necessary items that may be forgotten at home.

A roof terrace to which an external staircase leads is the main attraction in the Zimmer. Here, on a huge "thin" surface, the guests will enjoy the fresh air and the breathtakingly beautiful landscape pictures, from the Galilee mountains to Rosh Hankara.

Other points of interest: a cafe - the couple's studio and Yuval's workshop. not to be missed.
