"What is this crazy place and how come I didn't know about it!?" I ask my father who opened his boutique hotel here. "Welcome to the artists' quarter," he replies, showing me another picturesque cafe hidden in the tangle of alleys. He opens a blue iron gate in a stone wall, and I find myself in a picturesque and intimate patio, thanking God that there are no flies here to enter my gaping mouth. Surrounding me are picturesque stone houses in shades of white and blue..."

[From the words of the critic, Yair Sheinberg]

Advantages and disadvantages - a review from the field
Although, as in many boutique hotels, in some of the private suites in the outdoor areas (the balconies) partially. But those for whom privacy from a balcony is particularly important will be able to find a solution in some of the suites. The uniqueness of the structure and the beauty of this place makes it one of the special boutique hotels I have visited. In addition to the special design, on the roof, at a height of 800 meters above sea level, there is a shared spa complex that has a heated pool, a spa jacuzzi, a dry sauna and an age-old treatment room and all this in front of an amazing view of the old city.

The 5 suites differ in size and shape - in one a huge space and in the other romantic intimacy and a vaulted ceiling. In the third the view speaks and in the fourth the privacy is excellent, but they all share a careful design that pays respect to the ancient character of the building. True, natural lighting does not always reach every corner due to the nature of the alleys, but these shadows are broken by the colored stained glass windows and create the special atmosphere here.

Location and ambience

Let's be honest for a moment - Safed is probably not the first name that comes to your mind in the context of vacation. The city actually has a history in this area, but it was in the days when the B&B was called 'Beit Bara' and the guests were called Yitzhak and Geula - my grandparents. If you are now nodding in agreement - it is time to take out hats and eat them. I had already eaten mine as soon as the gate opened to the beautiful boutique hotel 'Beit Ha'Amani'.

Already on the way, I understand that I need to update the lexicon regarding this rare city: I get lost in ancient stone alleys as wide as my shoulders, asking myself, how 'Wise' took me to ancient Jerusalem instead of Safed... Every moment I am surprised by another small gallery with an artist who himself looks like one of the works, every two moments another historic house is revealed, another narrow and secret staircase, you know where it leads (my guess - to the 19th century...).

"What is this crazy place and how come I didn't know about it?!?!?" I ask my father who opened his boutique hotel here. Surrounding me are picturesque stone houses in shades of white and light blue (who said Greece and didn't get it?) and blue stairs climb to the depths of the compound.

"It was the studio of the sculptor Halwani," explains Avi, adding that each of the suites bears the name of a great artist who worked in the neighborhood. As someone who was already thrown out of art classes when they asked to draw a chair, I admit that I have no idea about art, but you don't need to understand much to know that there is a special aesthetic experience here.

The 5 suites differ in size and shape - in one a huge space and in the other romantic intimacy and a vaulted ceiling. In the third the view speaks and in the fourth the privacy, but they all share a careful design that pays respect to the ancient nature of the building. True, natural lighting does not always reach every corner due to the nature of the alleys, but these shadows create the special atmosphere here.

"When we renovated, we discovered behind one of the walls a secret space that had been closed for years, and was previously used as an ancient stone tomb" Indiana Jones tells me, sorry - my father. Today the space is used as a beautiful authentic bathroom...

"How many times have you heard the word 'wow' from guests?" I ask him, and instead of answering he leads me up the stairs to a super elaborate outdoor complex with a heated pool, spa jacuzzi, open kitchen and full of seating areas facing the view of the old city and Mount Miron. Add another 'wow' to the list... In the entrance space to the complex you will find a dry sauna and a treatment room located in a space discovered by chance, during the excavations of the ancient building.

Before finishing, some details about the environment:
A variety of picturesque galleries and cafes are hidden in the stone alleys around the hotel, but they are closed on Saturdays. To enjoy them, it is recommended to arrive before Shabbat. There are plenty of restaurants in Rosh Pina (10 minutes drive) that provide an excellent solution for meals. For lovers of mysticism and Judaism - the ancient synagogues of Safed are a short walk away.

On the way out I remember again my grandmother who used to come to the 'Kanaan' convalescent home in Safed in the old days. I have a feeling that she would have come out of the 'house of artists' much healthier...

A beautiful place with room for improvement
We arrived in Safed for two days of airing in the middle of the week. The Artisan House complex is a special complex full of beauty in every corner. The rooms are designed in an inspiring way, combining new and old with stunning stained glass windows. The place is right in the old city, walking distance from beautiful galleries and alleys that seem as if customers are from Greece. We entered a heated and fragrant suite, which Eyal upgraded us to at no extra cost because it was important to us to be in a place with wi-fi, which was really nice of him. The things I would improve are the refreshments. When you arrive at a B&B that costs quite a bit, I expect, from past experience, that there will be cows, cookies or chocolate, tea infusions and generally something that gives a warm feeling immediately upon arrival. This, in my opinion, is a small thing that would have improved the experience. In addition, there was a bad aftertaste in our bathroom, maybe something related to the plumbing, and it was also a little annoying. And lastly, cleanliness. The suite was spacious and pleasant but the cleanliness was lacking. There was a feeling that it would have been appropriate to try a little harder in terms of cleanliness because the place itself is really beautiful and invested.

An amazingly beautiful place

You will be hosted in the luxurious Robin Suite in the Artisan House complex.
First we must point out that the place is amazing in its beauty and it is obvious that a lot of thought was put into it while maintaining the authenticity of the ancient buildings.
The location of the complex is in the heart of the old city, with all around the amazing view of Safed and in general.
On Saturday we walked through the alleys and galleries that were open and were simply captivated by the uniqueness of the environment.
The suite is clean and well equipped and creates a calm and peaceful and very romantic atmosphere.
The jacuzzi on the roof terrace overlooks the view and at the same time is very private and we also enjoyed a dry sauna and a heated pool.
Eyal, the owner of the place personally made sure that we didn't miss anything.
Without a doubt, we will return again to stay and enjoy at the Artisan House complex.
Thank you for a fun and pampering weekend.

An amazing experience for a lovely weekend!

Eyal Shalom
I wanted to share with you that today is also three weeks since we visited the artists' house in Safed
We are left with a good taste to come back again.
Friday morning we decided that we were coming to Safed for the weekend, I talked to Eyal on the phone and without thinking twice we were on our way to the art house in Safed.
There we met Eyal who told us a little about Safed, the artists' quarter and the complex and why his suites are named after the great artists in Safed.
The entire complex is in shades of light blue and blue that instill calm. The suite we stayed in was amazing and luxurious and it is obvious that a lot of thought was put into it down to the smallest details.
The breakfast that Eyal gives is a rich and varied (plenty) morning meal that is eaten outside the suite which allowed us to walk around the alleys of the old city and enjoy the atmosphere, the prayers and the Shabbat hymns that emanated from the synagogues.
An amazing experience for a lovely weekend. Highly recommend!!!

Best regards
Tirach and Moshe

An unforgettable vacation

Hi Eyal,
On the weekend of November 14, 2015, I spent time with my wife at Zimmer Frankel in Beit HaOmen.
The weekend was experiential, calm and quiet when the place was beautiful and pampering in a special way.

The room and the premises were clean and perfectly organized and included everything we needed during the weekend.
The personal treatment we received from the moment of booking, during our stay until the end of the vacation was very warm and kind, including the handling of the meals we received.

We would like to thank you personally for the personal treatment and the unforgettable vacation we received.

Regards and thanks,
Shimon and Tsila Biton

disappointment
We stayed at the artists' house last weekend (15-16/09/17), we arrived as two pairs of friends and we were very disappointed with the place. In the room where our friends were staying there was an electrical fault (which turned off both the television and some of the lights in the room), and it remained like that for the whole The hospitality, despite our complaints. We booked a standard room, and about two days before the scheduled time they called us and informed us that there was an explosion in the sewer pipe, and that the only available room was a larger suite, and we would have to add "only" NIS 150 due to the difference. Of course we said that we did not want or need a bigger room, and at the end of the conversation we were told "that it will be fine, and I will talk to the owner of the B&B", according to our understanding - that we would not have to add money for a room that we did not ask for. However, at the end of the meal, and after a very unpleasant conversation with the owner of the guesthouse, we were charged for the amount and an additional 150 shekels. The place is indeed beautiful, but the service left a bitter taste in our mouths and clouded the hospitality.
