The original building in which Beit Shalom is located was established more than 111 years ago by Haim Moshe Fain and his partner Yocheved, grandparents of the present owner, Haim.  Within the thick stone walls and under the beautiful wooden roof, you will find all the luxurious facilities.  The house is secluded among weeping willow trees and the enchanting courtyard has a relaxing, picturesque corner to sit in and reflect.  Beit Shalom is an intimate hotel on the scale of luxurious boutique hotels that are worthy of this status.

Location and ambience

On my way to Metula, a few points came to mind:
A. This is the first time I come to Metula to give my opinion (it's really about time!)
B. This is the first time I express my opinion about boutique hotels.
third. Surely Miriam and Chaim gave the place its name because of the colony's location on the northern border and their hope for peace....

I have no doubt that Haim and Miriam's hope for peace is indeed great, but that is not the reason for the name of the place.
"Beit Shalom" was built one hundred and eleven years ago by Haim Moshe Payne and his wife Yochaved, Haim's grandparents, a pioneer couple from the first aliyah, who decided to settle in the picturesque settlement of Metula.
They built the stone house there, on the foundations of which "Beit Shalom" is built, and the stone walls (60 cm!) and the wooden beam roof form a significant layer in it.

Eleven children were born to the Payne couple in Metola (this is what happens when there is love and no electricity). The tenth of them is Shalom Payne, Haim's father, and he is the one who, out of true love for the place and the land, stayed in Metula to continue the family legacy.

Miriam and Haim preserve "Beit Shalom" located in the navel of the street leading out of the colony as a boutique hotel that opened its doors about a month ago with three magical suites that are similar to each other in terms of the delicate and warm interior design: "Dovdvan", "Arava" and "Bashem".

Beit Shalom is hidden in weeping willow trees, date trees and fruit trees that surround it. Inside the magical courtyard are picturesque and quiet seating areas.
A flight of stairs leads us to the three suites.
I chose to give my opinion on the cherry suite that overlooks the "Kingdoms of Hermon" from among the branches of the cherry tree at its foot. By the way, one of the most beautiful sights is the blooming of the cherry in the month of March, which gives its fruits around Shavuot and the hotel guests are of course invited to taste them to their heart's content.

The floor of the suite is a light parquet floor and the ceiling is the original wooden beam ceiling of the old stone house. The entrance is to the warm living room corner located at the foot of the large windows overlooking the inner courtyard with a spacious sofa and a handsome table. The walls of the suite are decorated with Miriam's handiwork and details of art and objects made of handmade craft of thought, which were carefully selected by Miriam.

On the table is a fruit bowl rich in seasonal fruits (you have never seen such plums!!!) and a bottle of the house liqueur with two glasses of wine. In front of the corner of the living room is a dresser (set up on wheels) with the TV with HOT channels and an electric fireplace for the cold winter days.

From the corner of the living room you go out to the balcony overlooking the slopes of Mount Hermon. On the balcony there is a table and two inviting chairs.

In the bedroom wing there is a huge double bed with a thick and high-quality orthopedic mattress covered with colorful Stan cotton sheets and lovely bedspreads (you want to get in!). At the sides of the bed are personal Mizrahi chests and personal lighting.
Across from the bed is a large storage closet to hide your belongings in so you forget when you leave.

Next to the bed is the well-equipped couple's jacuzzi and it is of course in addition to the spa and the treatment room in the stone house, and the huge spa jacuzzi in the courtyard overlooking the Hermon.

A designed bathroom with a shower and a rain shower. Behind the bathroom door you will find the gray bathrobes in the pockets of which you will find the personal slippers.

In the kitchen you can make various types of coffee/tea, an electric kettle and a mini bar with a variety of cold drinks.

On your trip outside the suite, you can enjoy the home of Haim Moshe and Yochaved Payne (Haim's grandparents) which was converted into a magical and spacious lobby with living room seating areas, television, free internet (the rooms also have wireless internet connections), a library, newspapers and magazines.

You can eat the rich and very high-quality breakfast at a time that suits you in the dairy restaurant. A beautifully designed restaurant with intimate seating areas.
I went for breakfast together with Miriam and I must say that it is an amazing culinary experience! Haim's hand-made hard cheeses in a variety of flavors: peanuts, onion, katzah, sesame, za'atar and much more.
Fig jam and plum jam from the fruits of the family orchard. Chaim makes the fig jam from two hundred-year-old fig trees whose cuttings his grandfather, Chaim Moshe Payne, brought during his visit to Damascus. You can choose from a variety of omelets, black and green olives, salted fish of two types, a rich vegetable salad, and fresh yogurt made by Haim Shavarov with the jams becomes an addictive delicacy! Green tea and fresh cow juice.

In conclusion:
"Beit Shalom" is a boutique hotel that is among those hotels that deserve this title. Every corner of it justifies it. The warm and enveloping hospitality of Miriam and Chaim turns your stay into an exciting, intimate, quiet, peaceful and.....delicious experience!
