What does the word 'Golan' mean to you?

Some of you are now thinking about a trip to Nahal Yehudia, some remember a spectacular view of Mount Bental and some go back to that time you almost got stuck in the snow. That's the thing about the Golan: it's insanely diverse - wild, mysterious and terribly beautiful.

This is also what I had in mind when I went looking for our next B&B. I found 'two slugs' in Anyam.

'Where is Anyam anyway?!' I asked myself and the iPhone. I didn't know myself, but the iPhone pointed to a quiet settlement, different from the B&B settlements of the plateau. This is a village of artists, without dozens of complexes and holiday villages, and with something... different. First of all the wild landscape that starts here and ends somewhere in the Kinneret and the highlands. The second thing is the structure - in alignment with the local basalt rocks 'growing' from the ground (in the first line of the view) two twin suites that are built from the same basalt itself.

I don't envy whoever had to collect these rocks and build from them, but I have to admit that he was successful... the unhewn stone creates a different look than anything I've seen in B&Bs. "Two slugs?" I ask Hali - the host, and she explains that "my husband is an architect and he designed the building in a rounded shape that reminded us of a snail".

I'm not sure I see the resemblance, but I do see an original and charming design, with two large spaces (living room - dining room - kitchen and bedroom), a special ceiling combined with fabric and interesting lighting fixtures. The spacious bedroom has a beautiful jacuzzi and steep stairs to a high balcony facing the view, and outside there is a shared 'thin' balcony with a dining area and a spa jacuzzi which looks like an excellent idea for the cool Golan nights.

Walking distance from here is, as mentioned, a sweet artists' village with galleries and cafes, and if nature does that to you, you've come to the right place: "We have a lovely waterfall and beautiful natural pools," Hali points in the direction of a walking path that leads out of the compound, and I'm trying to think how many people I know can say they have a waterfall...

So no, there is no fancy lounge here, nor a private swimming pool with a classic European design, but there is a super special design and above all a Ramat-Golanit Eslit experience that is very connected to the place. It turns out we have a wild west too. So what if with us he is even in the east...
