Side roads have always done that to me. Even in the metaphorical sense of getting off the highway of life for a second, but also in general - in a routine that forces us to plow the same roads, it's fun to discover a road you've never traveled. Such that it is not clear what you will see in it and where you will end up.

Just such a road leads to the "Provence of Balha" in Sde Ilan.

"Just put waze on," Belha tells me on the phone, and the device leads me to a remote field road that goes off the road between Kfar Tabor and the Golani interchange.

2-3 kilometers between birds, trees and fields (and not even a car!), make me fall in love with this place even before I saw it.

I get straight to the end of the settlement and Bilha who receives me explains that it is a quiet religious settlement and that the detour provides a solution for secular guests who wish to leave and enter on Shabbat. Thank God for this lovely solution.

We advance to the cabins, and the first thing I see is that I can barely see them. A garden of trees and rose bushes encloses them and creates an intimacy that turns the guest house behind into a theory. Inside this jungle, two cabins stand out, each with a protected outdoor area (one is larger and the other is more private).

At the entrance is a "thin" and a sitting area, and inside one high and airy space, which combines light walls, wooden furniture and a parquet floor. Here you can find a wide bed, a kitchenette with home treats, a TV and a bathroom.

A sunken jacuzzi is located in the corner in front of two huge window walls that bring the garden inside (don't worry, the blackout curtains are good). I go out and feel the June sun kicking up a gear. Lucky there is a pool. It is large and beautiful, surrounded by a "dek" and seating areas, and overlooks the adjacent olive grove and the fields.

To complete the picture, there is a "sweet" indoor garden kitchen with everything you need for cooking (including a large refrigerator), and on the side - bicycles (regular and two-seater) for those who are not satisfied with looking at the view from afar.

I go out on the beautiful road and remember an annoying sentence of teachers: 'The main thing is the road'. So the road is really beautiful, but not only that. The pleasant simplicity and silence that is broken only by the sounds of a farm and the soft bleats of calves from a nearby barn definitely give it a flair...
